Dr David Di Fiore is an Italian speaking Interventional and Pacing Cardiologist who has returned home to Adelaide following 10 years away honing his skillset interstate. His skillset includes complex coronary stenting and intravascular imaging, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and interrogation, non-invasive cardiac imaging supervision and interpretation, and heart failure management. His academic interests include anginal syndromes secondary to coronary vasomotor disorders which includes coronary artery spasm.

Dr Di Fiore graduated from The University of Adelaide in 2003 and completed advanced cardiology training at Lyell McEwin Health Service and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He then served as a Consultant Cardiologist and Acute Medical Unit Consultant at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and as a Visiting Cardiologist in regional South Australia. During this period, he completed a PhD on coronary artery spasm predictors and outcomes and gained expertise in intracoronary spasm provocation and vasoreactivity testing.

Dr Di Fiore expanded his interventional skills at MonashHeart as an Interventional Cardiology Fellow, supporting fellowship and educational programs and quality control, as well as achieving level A specialist certification in CT coronary angiography. Thereafter he served the Wide Bay region in both public and private sectors, performing coronary interventions and cardiac device implantations.

Dr Di Fiore’s extended time in the regional setting led to his understanding and empathy for patients who have found it difficult to access medical care. He has seen patients with the full spectrum of cardiac disorders and hence he has kept up to date with knowledge within the areas of interventional procedures, cardiac device implantation and interrogation, heart failure management and general cardiology. His compassionate and approachable nature complements his broad skillset and enables him to provide a comprehensive service to his patients in a timely manner. He likes to keep his patients well informed of their cardiac care and communicates effectively in both English and Italian. He is always readily available to support his patients and their families and by extension also supports their general practitioner and any other specialists in their care.
