Electrocardiogram
(ECG)
An ECG records the electrical activity that your heart creates. An ECG is a non-invasive, painless test using dots placed on the skin that records the electrical activity that your heart creates. It helps with diagnosing any problems with your heart function and electrical activity. An ECG can tell your doctor your heart rhythm, heart muscle blood flow, heart chamber size and thickness.
Pacemaker, Loop recorder and Defibrillator checks
Pacemaker, loop recorder and defibrillator checks and remote monitoring.
Why? Pacemaker, loop recorder and defibrillators require regular 6 -12 month reviews and checking after they are inserted. These devices have complex settings, that when optimised can deliver superior treatment. .
24 Hour Blood
Pressure Monitor
A 24-hour blood pressure monitor is a watch-like device that measures your blood pressure over a 24-hour period. A 24-hour blood pressure monitor is a non-invasive painless test using a watch-like device that is placed on the wrist and measures blood pressure. 24-hour blood pressure monitors are an important diagnostic tool for your doctor to use.
Holter
Monitoring
A Holter monitor records the electrical activity of the heart over a 24-72 hour period. A Holter monitor is a non-invasive, painless test using dots placed on the skin that records the electrical activity that your heart creates over a 24-72 hour period. A Holter monitor can tell your doctor about abnormalities in your heart rhythm. Holter monitors are an important diagnostic tool for your doctor to use.
Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram (echo) is a painless, non-invasive ultrasound imaging test of the heart made by placing a probe on the outside of the left chest. An echocardiogram allows your doctor to diagnose any structural issues with your heart. An echocardiogram can tell your doctor about heart valve narrowing and leaks, heart size and function, heart mass, heart chamber pressures, heart wall motion, heart wall stiffness and identify fluid build up around the heart.
Bubble Study
Echocardiogram
A bubble study echocardiogram is a painless, non-invasive ultrasound imaging test of the heart made by placing a probe on the outside of the left chest combined with injection of microbubbles into your vein. A bubble study echocardiogram allows your doctor to diagnose any holes in your heart. Holes in the heart structures are associated with breathlessness, stroke, migraine and other cardiac symptoms.
Carotid
Ultrasound
A carotid ultrasound is a painless, non-invasive ultrasound imaging test of the carotid arteries in the neck made by placing a probe on the outside of the neck. A carotid ultrasound allows your doctor to diagnose arterial disease in your neck arteries and is used to predict your risk of cardiovascular events.
Exercise Stress
Echocardiogram
An exercise stress echocardiogram is an imaging treadmill test using ultrasound that looks at the performance of the heart muscle before and after exercise. Many cardiac symptoms only occur during exercise. Your doctor may recommend an exercise stress echocardiogram to investigate any problems with flow in your coronary arteries and heart muscle function at peak exercise.
Dobutamine Stress
Echocardiogram
If you are unable to exercise, dobutamine is used to make your heart beat faster so that we can assess your heart at high heart rates. Dobutamine stress echocardiogram is a medication stress test that uses an echocardiogram image of the heart muscle whilst you are lying down in the presence of a cardiologist.
